In Thanjavur district, in a village named Kilivenmani, Mirasudar peasants clashed, where Dalit people, mostly women, children and the elderly, were locked in a hut and burnt alive. This incident really shook me at that time. I never expected such violence to happen, setting more than forty people on fire. Then I decided to write a novel about it as I knew that it would not be possible to publish this novel in popular magazines under the circumstances of that time. Later it was serialized in "Kaniyazhi".
